Half of Lithuanians donate for charity, average donation 9 euros

Some 54 percent of Lithuanians donated for charity between July 2011 and 2012, the average donated sum stood at 30 litas (EUR 9), shows a survey carried out by market research company RAIT.

According to the survey performed for online donation website aukok.lt, more frequent and larger donations were made by people with higher education and higher posts.

As compared with earlier years, the number of donors went down by 7 percent. However, the average donation rose from 29 to 30 litas.

Aukok.lt said the latest results were nearly a reflection of earlier forecasts, which suggested that about 56 percent of Lithuania's residents planned to donate, with the average donation standing at 27 litas.
