“Japan has been involved in the new nuclear project in Lithuania. Hitachi – one of leading companies in the region – has been nominated to invest in this project. Since then, we have <…> expressed that Japan would share experience from the accident from Fukushima power plant station,” she said at a Lithuania-Japan nuclear safety seminar in Vilnius on Tuesday.

The ambassador pointed out that cooperation with Hitachi, Japan’s nuclear energy developer, would contribute to the strengthening of both bilateral relations and Lithuania’s security.

Masaji Matsuyama, Japan’s Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, said during a visit to Lithuania that Japan’s government supported Hitachi’s participation in the new Lithuanian nuclear facility project, which would contribute to the strengthening of long-term bilateral relations and Lithuania’s security, she added.
