Lithuanian films will be screened at different sections of the festival. Karolis Kaupinis’ debut “Nova Lituania” and Latvian-Lithuanian-Belgian-French co-production “Oleg” (dir. Janis Kursietis) with Lithuanian actor Valentin Novopolskij in the main role will be screened at the festival’s competition program. The film premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Two Lithuanian short films will be screened at Short fiction films marathon: “Community gardens” (lit. Kolektyviniai sodai) by Vytautas Katkus and “Is that, like, your real job?” (lit. Ar tai yra tikrasis tavo darbas?) by Gintarė Parulytė, who lives and works in Luxembourg. Festival goers will be also able to watch Ernestas Jankauskas’ debut film “Sasha Was Here” (lit. Čia buvo Saša), Marija Kavtaradzė’s “Summer Survivors” (lit. Išgyventi vasarą) and a contemporary Lithuanian documentary “Animus Animalis (a story about People, Animals and Things)” (lit. Animus Animalis (istorija apie žmones, žvėris ir daiktus)) by Aistė Žegulytė.
Those who are interested in Lithuanian film heritage will be able to watch “Children from the Hotel America” (lit. Vaikai iš „Amerikos“ viešbučio) by Raimundas Banionis (1990). Lithuanian classics brings back memories of Luxembourg radio, which is remembered as a symbol of freedom up to this day. The film will open a Lithuanian film and cooking evening, which will take place on the 11th of October.
The festival will also have other Lithuanian accents: Deividas Buivydas’ work will be displayed at “Down With Walls” photography exhibition and Lithuanian trio “Baltic Balcan” will play at the festival’s closing party.
