Commemorative events will be attended by the country's Minister of National Defense Rasa Juknevičienė and Chief of Defense of Lithuania Arvydas Pocius.

Born in Alytus, southern Lithuania, Sakaulauskas joined the National Defense Volunteer Forces after the Soviet Union attempted to overthrow Lithuania's legitimate government in January 1991. He was killed on August 21, 1991 while defending the building of the Supreme Council (parliament). Another two defense volunteers were also injured then.

A meeting of freedom defenders will take place and an exhibition will be opened at the Lithuanian Seimas on Tuesday and a solemn military line-up will also take place in the evening.
