The Jewish Community of Lithuania will present the Lithuanian-language version of Ponary Diary, a publication written by Polish journalist Kazimierz Jakowicz, and a documentary titled Hostages: July of 1941.

Ponary Diary, which tells about mass killings of Jews in Paneriai, a Vilnius neighborhood, during the Nazi occupation, is widely known across the globe. It was published in the Polish language in 1999 and was later translated into Hebrew, German, and English.

In tribute to the heritage of Jews who lived in the territory of the Great Duchy of Lithuania, the Vilnius Jewish Culture and Information Center will open a photograph exhibition on Litvak Heritage in Belarus.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is officially commemorated on January 27, the day of liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland in 1945.

Over 90 percent of Lithuania's pre-war Jewish population of about 208,000 was killed during the Holocaust. About 6 million Jews perished during the Holocaust in the world.
