Prunskienė is continuing rehabilitation she started in Lithuania in one of Moscow's medical centers since last November.
"She can walk herself, with a stick but quite well. The next stage is taking the stairs. Everything looks quite well," Prunskienė's son Vaidotas Prunskus said.
The professor's speech is also improving although, her son says, it can’t be said it has fully recovered.
Prunskienė's family have doubts whether she will be strong enough to return to Lithuania for her 70th jubilee in late February.
Prunskienė was one of the signatories of the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania, signed on March 11, 1990, and became the first prime minister of independent Lithuania soon afterwards.
