Lithuania to allocate one million euros to Olympic medalists

Lithuanian Government will pay bonuses totaling LTL 3.312,500 (EUR 959,366) to athletes of the Olympic Games.

Government's Resolution on the support and promotion of high-performance athletes and other team members will provide bonuses for Olympic athletes who took 1 – 8 places in Olympic competitions, as well as for their coaches, care physicians, and researchers. Money is allocated from the State general budget appropriations for Department of Physical Education and Sports (KKSD), writes LETA/ELTA.

The two Olympic gold medalists, their coaches and other team members will receive LTL 1.4 million (EUR 0.4 million). The silver medal will cost the state LTL 350,000 (EUR 101,367), and LTL 525,000 (EUR 152,050) will be allocated for the two bronze medals.

Winners of 4-8 places will share up to LTL 100,000 (EUR 28,962).

Olympic gold swimmer Rūta Meilutytė will personally receive LTL 400,000 (EUR 115,848), her coach – LTL 200,000 (EUR 57,924), and serving staff – LTL 100,000 (EUR 28,962).

Pentathlon champion Laura Asadauskaitė will receive the same premium.

Canoe paddler who finished second, Jevgenijus Šuklinas, will get LTL 200,000 (EUR 57,924), while his coaches will be paid LTL 100,000 (EUR 28,962), and service staff 50,000 LTL (EUR 14,481).

Bronze medalists wrestler Aleksandr Kazakevich and boxer Evaldas Petrauskas will receive LTL 150,000 (EUR 43,443) each.
