Lithuania to appoint ambassador to Arab League

Lithuania intends to appoint an ambassador to the Arab League, planning to designate Dainius Junevičius, ambassador to Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, to the post.

The candidacy has already been discussed at the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, the Foreign Ministry informs. In Lithuania, ambassadors are appointed by the president upon a nomination from the government.

Arab League is a regional organization uniting countries in North Africa and the Middle East. Founded in 1945, the organization coordinates policies and aims to settle regional conflicts, also supporting political, economic, cultural, and social programs.
