Lithuanian and Dutch authorities crack human trafficking ring

Lithuanian and Dutch officers finished an international long-term operation, which resulted in detaining a criminal organization that sold people into sex slavery, the Police Department has said on Friday.

According to the press release, members of the group may have earned about 500,000 euros from the activities.

During the operation, a Lithuanian and two Albanians were detained in the Netherlands, with human trafficking charges against two more individuals brought in Lithuania.

Searches in Lithuania and the Netherlands revealed unlawful money, de luxe automobiles, items and documents proving criminal activities.

The investigators identified 13 young women who were sold to sex slavery.
