At a meeting with Sweden's Culture Minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth last week, Birutis agreed on the need to present the Nordic country's culture in Lithuania on a far broader scale.
"This is what I emphasized during the meeting with the Swedish minister – Sweden is the largest investor in Lithuania, however, the profits made in Lithuania are so far totally inconsistent with cultural cooperation. Lithuanian people know very little about the Swedish culture – all they know is shops, new trademarks, and whether the Swedish banks treat them well or not. We agreed that Sweden should be more visible on the cultural arena in Lithuania. And if there's Sweden in Lithuania, there will be Lithuania in Sweden, as well," he told BNS.
