Romas Zabarauskas |
Walking down the red carpet outside the festival's opening venue at Rossiya theatre in Moscow on Thursday, Zabarauskas was wearing a T-shirt with a potentially explosive slogan underneath his black-tie attire.
The slogan on the blue T-shirt read "Free Pussy Riot" and Romas was more than happy to show it off to media photographers.
Zabarauskas, who is openly gay, has been a vocal supporter of human rights and has routinly denounced manifestations of homophobia and human rights violations in Lithuania as well as internationally.
According to "Ekho Moskvy", Zabarauskas thus fits nicely into a small tradition started last year by Russian film director Olga Darfi, who went on the red carpet of the 34th Moscow International Film Festival wearing a balaclava mask, also a sign of support to Pussy Riot.
