"We hope that together with the new ambassador we will continue strengthening government, business and human ties between the two countries," the Lithuanian minister was quoted as saying in a statement following his meeting with incoming Polish Ambassador to Lithuania Jaroslaw Czubinski on Wednesday.
"We are on the right track. It is reflected by reaction of the Lithuanian and Polish public and the countries' governments to recent isolated attempts to put our nations at loggerheads," the minister said.
Lithuanian-Polish relations have been tense recently due the countries' different positions on the situation of ethnic minorities.
Last month, the Polish government and media condemned an incident when Polish football fans held a poster offending Lithuanians during a match in Poznan.
