Lithuanian Independence Day concert in Azerbaijan attracts 600 spectators

The concerts of classical music held in Baku every year in honor of the Day of Independence of Lithuania gathers about 600 people and this year was no exception, News.Az reports.

The statement came from Lithuanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Kęstutis Kudzmanas.

A concert with participation of famous Lithuanian bandmaster Robertas Šervenikas, as well as young Azerbaijani talents-pianists Narmin Najafli and Rustam Zeynalov, included into the Golden Book of young talents of Azerbaijan was held at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic on Thursday.

“It has become a tradition for Lithuanian embassy to hold concert in honor of the Day of Independence. Every year we see a full hall, about 600 people are coming”, the ambassador told reporters.

Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov performed the symphonic poem of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis ‘In the forest’, the symphonic picture of Stasys Vainiūnas ‘Sutartinė’, suite by Benjamin Britten ‘Musical nights’. The compositions by Frederick Chopin and Franz List were also performed.

According to the ambassador, the Lithuanian government further plans to develop bilateral cultural relations in the sphere of culture with the Azerbaijani side and support exchange of experience in the sphere of culture. According to the ambassador, Azerbaijan’s mugam performers are expected to visit Lithuania this year.
