The EU's solidary reaction also influenced Russia's decision, Lithuanian MEPs told BNS.
"The European Union responded solidarily. It seems to me that it was a big victory for Lithuania as the Parliament spoke with one voice," Lithuanian MEP Leoninas Dolskis of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) told BNS.
Another Lithuanian MEP, Laima Andrikienė, representing the Group of the European People's Party, said that EU institutions had influenced Russia's decision.
"I believe that everyone, including the European Parliament, contributed to this result as the discussion took place yesterday and it involved the Dutch Trade Commissioner Karel de Gucht," Andrikienė, one of the discussion's initiators, told BNS.
Meanwhile Socialist Justas Paleckis says that the bans Lithuanian haulers were subjected to do no last long but the EU's actions might have helped.
Additional border checks for Lithuanian haulers on the Russian border were introduced on Sepember 11 and cancelled on October 10, Russia's Customs said on Wednesday.
