Lithuania remains the last EU member state to have not ratified the pact. Serbia was granted EU candidate status in March.
The ratification of the agreement is being stalled by the situation of Lithuanian businessmen in Serbia. Currently, claims by Lithuanian companies are being heard by the International Court of Arbitration.
Members of the parliamentary committee on Wednesday met with representatives of Lithuanian companies Arvi and Alita. The committee said in a statement that businessmen had acquainted the members "with new information about problems they are facing while working with Serbian government institutions."
"After listening to company representatives and a subsequent discussion about the business environment in Serbia, it was decided to postpone the hearing of the bill at the committee for a later date," the Seimas Public Relations Unit said in the statement.
Lithuania has been one of the most outspoken critics of Serbia. Resenting Serbia's treatment of Lithuanian investors, Lithuanian officials have raised the issue of whether the country is government by the rule of law. Moreover, Lithuania and Serbia were recently involved in a diplomatic rivalry for a high position at the United Nations.
