Gold medalist modern pentathlete Laura Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė was awarded a Grand Cross of Commander of the Order for Merits to Lithuania and bronze medalist boxer Evaldas Petrauskas received a Cross of Officer of the Order for Merits to Lithuania.

Silver medalist canoeist Jevgenij Šuklin received a Cup of the President of the Republic of Lithuania. He was awarded a Cross of the Knight of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke in 2010.

The Olympic medalists' coaches also received state decorations.

In a statement issued by the Pres Service of the President, Grybauskaitė called the Olympic athletes the country's true patriots.

"You are true patriots of Lithuania. You are the ones who consider the homeland's honor your personal happiness. As Lithuania's national anthem was being played and the flag was being hoisted at the London Olympics, the whole Lithuania shared the joy with you. It was a moment of pride for our country, worth living and making sacrifices for. You became dear and close to all of us. To everyone who love their homeland and believe in it no matter where they live," the president said.

Grybauskaitė bestowed state decorations upon gold medalist swimmer Rūta Meilutytė and bronze medalist wrestler Aleksandr Kazakevich last week.
