"As far as we are informed, Lithuanian institutions have nothing to do with this incident, and therefore we have to treat it as a private initiative," the Lithuanian prime minister told journalists on Tuesday.
Kubilius expressed hope that all issues related to this incident would be resolved during an investigation. He added that Lithuania would work with Belarus on this issue in compliance with "existing legal cooperation commitments."
"We have to separate in this case flights within Lithuania's airspace that take place based on the existing rules, and the questions whether they were breached or not, and what's happening in the neighboring country," the Lithuanian premier said.
Kubilius refused to comment on Lukashenko's recent statements threatening Lithuania with retaliatory actions over the teddy-bear incident.
"I don’t comment on such statements as I think that we are neighbors and neighbors can resolve all issues without such statements," he said.
