"Although some countries deployed in Afghanistan suspended the training of Afghan troops in the wake of attacks against ISAF soldiers by individuals wearing Afghan police and military uniforms, Lithuanian soldiers continue the training of Afghans," Vanra told BNS on Tuesday.
He noted that top leaders of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) have not issued a warning to suspend the training operations.
"Special Forces are training a response unit of Afghanistan's National Police (ANP) in the south, advisory groups to the Afghan National Army and ANP deployed in the Ghor province are training the province's troops and police officers, soldiers of the Air Force advisory group in the Kandahar airport are helping in the training of Afghan helicopter pilots and the personnel servicing helicopters," the Lithuanian Army's officer added.
On Tuesday, the global media reported about the NATO-led forces reducing the scope of joint operations with Afghan forces in the wake of a series of attacks by new Afghan troops against their Western allies.
Nevertheless, ISAF later dismissed the media reports inprecise, saying that it referred to revision of the character of cooperation with the Afghan forces.
