Lithuania's Ambassador to Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas has emphasized the importance of discussions by Nordic officials and experts about security and defense of the Baltic states, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said.

The study was recently described by BNS. Among other things, it says that although Lithuania has the biggest ambitions among the Baltic states in connection to development of its Armed Forces, however, is far behind Estonia in terms of defense funding.

Drafted by Bo Ljung, Tomas Malmlof, Karlis Neretnieks, and Mike Winnerstig, the study also provides a thorough analysis of NATO's potential to act in response to Russian violence against the Baltic states. Authors of the study maintain NATO would respond to Russia's modern air defense system, with one of the elements - surface-to-air missile S-400 - recently deployed in Russia's Kaliningrad region bordering Lithuania.
