“Cadet Gytenis Borusas to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Cadet Aurimas Juodka to the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut,” the US Embassy in Vilnius said in a press release.
On Monday, US Ambassador Anne E. Derse presented the two cadets with the scholarship certificates, which provide them with an opportunity to study in the US until 2016.
According to the press release, Derse told the cadets that she sees them "as part of the framework on which Lithuania's future peace and success is being built."
"The US government and the American people are deeply grateful for the great cooperation of the Lithuanian Military in operations in Afghanistan and in general, and we are delighted to continue strengthening this excellent relationship by providing annual scholarships to deserving Lithuanian cadets to attend our service academies," said Ambassador Derse.
Young people from Lithuania leave for US military academies on an annual basis.
