Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, who greeted Shri Naidu in Vilnius on Saturday claimed that the Vice President’s visit to Lithuania is a historical event of high importance. He urged both countries to use the bilateral cooperation in economy and trade.
Shri Naidu called upon the Indian community in Lithuania to serve as a bridge in strengthening economic and cultural relations between the two countries. He said Lithuania could be an important technology partner for India.
During the visit to the KTU Santaka Valley the Vice President had the opportunity to get acquainted with the scientific and technological achievements of KTU research groups: the most innovative energy, ultrasound research and materials science projects were introduced to Shri Naidu and the delegation.
“Indian economy is one of the fastest developing in the world. Therefore, I am very excited by the Vice President’s attention to our University. I am sure that this visit will widen the opportunities to attract talented Indian students, to develop academic exchange and joint scientific projects with Indian universities and industry companies”, said KTU Rector Eugenijus Valatka.
Shri Naidu, whose scientific interests include urbanisation, city infrastructure and energy had a chance to get familiar with the research infrastructure at the state-of-the-art research laboratories of Ultrasound Research Institute and Materials Sciences Institute at KTU Santaka Valley. During the event, the innovative project of floating solar panel farm, potentially the largest in the world, developed by a team of KTU researchers and Lithuanian state energy company Lietuvos Energija was introduced.
Students from India form the largest international students’ community at KTU. At the moment, almost 300 Indian students study at KTU. Most of them – in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Design.
