Plaza, 48, signed a one-year contact with the club. Its financial provisions are not disclosed.
Plaza launched his coaching career in 2000 as assistant at Joventut Badalona (Spain).
He moved to Real Madrid to work as assistant for the 2005-2006 season. He took over the helm at the club in 2006, winning one Liga ACB Championship and an ULEB Cup victory in 2007.
In 2009-2012, Plaza was coach of Cajasol Banca Cívica.
He will replace Serbian Aksandr Trifunovic.
