At the end of February, goods ordered at the Barbora online store could be picked up by customers without leaving their cars at two newly built drive-in stops in Vilnius next to the Ozas retail centre and in Kaunas, next to the Maxima XXX store in Savanoriai Avenue. In March, the Barbora drive-in network will be supplemented by two more goods pick-up stops in the Naujamiestis and Pilaitė areas of Vilnius. By late March, the Barbora goods to car delivery network in Lithuania will feature 8 drive-in stops in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda.
The first goods to car delivery stops were established by Barbora in December last year at well-known and convenient for clients locations – next to the Akropolis and Maxima Bazė retail centres in Vilnius, at the Maxima Bazė car park in Kaunas and next to the retail centre Banginis in Klaipėda.
“Drive-in goods pick-up stops are a pilot project, with which we sought to evaluate whether there is demand in our market to pick up goods by car. In Western European metropolises, the major online grocery stores have already long offered such services. We see that in Lithuania this service also has much potential. The number of clients using the drive-in stop is constantly growing; thus we decided to continue developing this service – to improve the process and expand the stop network,” Barbora director Andrius Mikalauskas says.
Purchased goods can be picked up at a drive-in stop at any point between a chosen hour to 8 PM; thus the service is convenient for customers, who are uncertain when they will reach home and do not want to spend time for shopping. When picking up the goods by car, no delivery or minimum purchase fees are charged.
After implementing the new goods pick-up stop development plans in Lithuania, Barbora plans to begin offering drive-in services also to the residents of Riga and Tallinn from this summer onward.
Plan to offer another method of goods pick-up
Currently, Barbora offers clients three goods delivery methods – delivery to home or office, goods delivery to your car at drive-in stops and picking up at Barbora goods lockers.
Currently, there are 2 goods pick-up terminals in Vilnius, so-called food lockers, one at the Akropolis business centre and one next to the Circle K petrol station on Ukmergė street. In March, Barbora plans to open another stationary goods pick-up locker in Vilnius, where goods can be picked up at any time of the day.
Soon Barbora intends to offer clients another one new way of picking up goods at a specially built pick-up points located in Maxima XX and Maxima XXX stores.
The Baltic States’ largest online grocery and everyday goods store Barbora offers food delivery services to the residents of Lithuania’s largest cities Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda and are also successfully operating in Riga and Tallinn. It has been calculated that Barbora services in Lithuania could be used by more than a million residents in the Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda areas.
