Reinforcements for the strategy implementation

“With the SBA Group entering a stage of international growth, we are strengthening our strategic level team. Marcin’s years of experience and competencies at one of the leading global business consultancies will add to our global and out-of-the-box perspective. At the same time, his “skin in the game” and practical experience in transforming global companies will contribute to strengthening our Group’s positions in global markets and will increase the momentum of our business development,” says SBA president Arūnas Martinkevičius.

Kotlarek joined the BCG, which operates across 50 states and many of whose clients rank among the world’s 500 largest corporations. For more than two decades in this international business consultancy firm, he worked in business strategy, finance, business transformations, acquisitions, marketing and other areas. He has consulted large financial, industrial, consumer goods and other companies. Current BCG partner also developed and implemented market entry, business development and growth strategies, large-scale digital transformations, company mergers, and post-merger integrations. New SBA’s board also worked inthe international automotive manufacturer Daimler Chrysler and helped implement its projects in Germany, Singapore, and Poland.

“I am joining a driven business group whose inspiring vision, ambitious strategy, environmentally-friendly and innovation-based outlook, as well as its team of the highest competence level, make it stand out across the region. But the most important thing is Group’s internal culture and values, that is alive in every team member. I will devote my energy and experience to help transform the SBA into a global, multicultural business group. This not only by harnessing the Group’s vast potential but also in the discovery of new strategic opportunities for sustainable growth and development,” Kotlarek says.

A proven model

The new independent SBA board member will continue alongside his career at BCG. With Kotlarek joining, the SBA board will feature two independent members. It was previously joined by the founder of the consultancy company Civitta Adam Saulius Vaina, who has also accrued experience in another global business consultancy firm – McKinsey & Company. The SBA Group board also features vice president Egidijus Valentinavičius, the board chairman of the companies SBA Modular, and Robotex Kęstutis Bagdonavičius. A. Martinkevičius chairs the Group’s board.

According to him, the inclusion of independent members at the highest strategic management level proved itself, and the practice is being further extended into other SBA companies – the boards of SBA Modular and Utenos Trikotažas recently saw the arrival of independent members who hold international experience.

This year SBA Group launched an ambitious expansion strategy and plans to invest more than 300 million EUR and create no less than 800 jobs in the next three years. The Group is performing organic development and greenfield investment and is looking for potential business acquisitions in Lithuania and abroad.

The SBA Group is one of the largest in Lithuania. It operates across the furniture manufacturing, apparel and real estate sectors and employs around 5,500 staff. It exports its products to 50 countries worldwide, with its sales reaching 342.5 million euros in 2020.
