According to commercial premise cleaning and hygiene company North Clarity expert Gediminas Viselga, this unique period is truly filled with challenges. In essence, staff are working all the time, and former service, equipment and resource suppliers have suddenly themselves become clients of the company.
According to G. Viselga, the demand for the company’s services started to see drastic growth in late February, when cafes, restaurants, retail and service locations were still operating at full capacity, however significantly increased their attention to ensuring the highest hygiene standards.
To illustrate the situation, he presents two numbers – on a usual month, the company’s staff disinfect around 2 thousand square meters of premises, but just over the last seven days, over 60 square meters have been disinfected. According to the expert, there are increasing numbers of buildings and premises, where the service has been performed for the first time since they were built.
“Up to then, we carefully monitored the situation in Asian countries, analysed the measures they applied and the methods they used to combat the spread of the coronavirus. We had a more realistic view of the situation and prepared for it ahead of time. We had to review our operations processes, our resources. At the moment, our staff work day and night and the scope of our clients have expanded several times – former service suppliers, such as banks, who still offer services to their clients, have suddenly become service customers. We constantly review scheduling, have increased the working hours of almost all staff, who worked part-time. For example, staff, who volunteer and worked part-time, were studying or doing other work in parallel, now all work at full capacity. In essence, we face no lack of resources because the demand for general cleaning services in offices and commercial premises has significantly decreased,” North Clarity expert G. Viselga says.
According to him, a number of companies, which offer cleanliness and cleaning services, are now faced with a major problem – a brigade is needed for full-fledged premise disinfection. However, most market participants would assist small teams, usually ones formed of just two people.
“Such a team composition is sufficient for everyday premise cleanliness outside of quarantine conditions; however, disinfection must be rapid and effective. Our brigades were put together from earlier, and this work model has applied in our company for a long time, thus alongside effective resource management, we do not also need to deal with forming teams. This is very important while working under tense conditions,” the company’s representative says.
The company head notes that currently, to ensure effective operations, it is crucial to have an uninterrupted supply of equipment and materials. Thus the company is actively purchasing extra equipment and necessary chemicals, which are becoming increasingly scarce on the market day by day.
“In this regard, the situation is becoming tenser because disinfectant materials, as can be seen in the public space, are being exhausted on the market, their prices have been rising by hours. For example, at the directive of the government, certain producers will only be able to supply disinfectant liquid to state institutions. On our end, we are actively working with all our partners in Lithuania and abroad to ensure uninterrupted supply so that we can continue to provide services at full capacity,” the representative of North Clarity says.
