In July 2019, the state-owned company Infostruktūra was renamed Kertinis Valstybės Telekomunikacijų Centras (KVTC). It became a budget institution and ceased commercial activity. Schools and kindergartens received a warning about the termination of internet services.

“Modern education cannot be imagined without a fast and reliable internet connection. KVTC no longer provides telecommunication services, and we decided to offer our internet to Vilnius educational institutions. We signed 12 contracts after winning the tender, and several more are waiting for us in the near future,” says the director of Penkių Kontinentų Komunikacijų Centras Romas Rimgaila.

The Sigismund Augustus Elementary School of Vilnius, Vilnius City Sports Center, Vilnius Radvilos Gymnasium, Vilnius Justiniškės Children's and Youth Club, Vilnius Kindergarten Žiedas, and other educational institutions will be connected to the Penki fiber optic internet network.

The state-owned company Infostruktūra, renamed Kertinis Valstybės Telekomunikacijų Centras in 2019, has been providing IT services since 2001. Among its clients were the Presidency, the Seimas, and ministries. In 2019, KVTC became a budget institution. Today, the main goal of KVTC is to manage the unified state data network.
