The VW driver has been fined 5000 Euros by event stewards after cutting a corner on SS2 on Thursday evening.
Stewards decided that the crew deliberately left the stage route and crossed an adjacent field in an attempt to save time. Mikkelsen and co-driver Ola Floene accepted that they had planned the short cut and that it was inappropriate action.Stewards emphasised the severity of this behaviour and the potential risks and warned Mikkelsen he would be excluded if he repeated his actions during the rest of the season.
