In this (pilot) episode of DJsCan'tCook Ali Schwarz and Adeline discuss their love of India, yoga and share health tips with each other while Ali teaches Adeline how to make his signature Lentil Soup and Black Salad.
RECIPE
Ingredients:
-1x cup cut pineapple
-1x apple
-1x pear
-1x kiwi
-1x banana
-handful of green grapes
-1x cup cut celery
-handful of spinach
-handful fresh parsley
-handful fresh mint
-lemon juice of 1 lemon
-1x small fennel
-1x tablespoon grated ginger
-1x handful lamb`s lettuce
-1x half handful cut radicchio
-1-2 tablespoon roasted walnuts
-1x apple
-1x teaspoon ground red pepper
-vegetable oil
-apple vinegar
-mustard-apple syrup
-1x cup red or yellow lentils
-gram masala
-ghee-curcuma
-black pepper
-red chili fresh chopped-cumin
-garlic chopped
-chopped vegetables: leek, carrots, celery
Hardware & Utensils:
-cutting board(s)
-knife
-lemon squeezer
-plate
-salad bowl
-jam jar
-large pot
-hand mixer or mixer (aka blender)
STEPS/INSTRUCTIONS
Black Salad:
-heat up a pan and roast the nuts without oil
-let the nuts cooling down and cut or crush them into small pieces
-cut the fennel, apple, ginger and radiccio in small pieces for salad
-wash the salad and dry it
-add the mustard, syrup, vinegar, salt and black pepper in a bowl
-mix the ingredients and add the oil slowly until you get emulsion
-put the salad, fennel, nuts, apple, ginger and red pepper in a big bowl
-add now the dressing and mix it carefully
Lentil Soup:
-soften the lentils in a bowl with warm water (30 minutes or more)
-chop the vegetables into match size and the ginger, garlic and chilli in small pieces (the smaller the better)
-heat up the pot and add the ghee
-add now the ginger, garlic and chilli, fry it until it gets a nice flavour
-season it with the gram masala, cumin and curcuma
-now add the lentils and the vegetables (save a portion of veggies for topping)
-cook it until the lentils soft-cooked
-now blend the soup with a hand mixer or in a blender
-season again with the spices, salt and pepper
-serve the soup in a bowl and add on top the chopped vegetables
