January 15, a citizen's group supporting Ukrainian troops launched a small remotely piloted aircraft system (drone) over the war-ravaged remains of the Donetsk International Airport:

That video was then independently processed by the Professional Society of Drone Journalists at DroneJournalism.org, in order to produce three dimensional models and photomaps of the area.
As publicly-available satellite images are few and far between, sometimes spanning months between new rounds of imaging for the same city, and resolution is limited, these drone-gathered photos provide timely and detailed information about this deadly and destructive conflict.
