Couple of month ago I had the opportunit to travel in China to visit the Famous 99 bends roads of Tianmen Mountain !
A real dream came true!
Indeed since many years I always been fascinated by that infinite asphalt strip. Climbing abruptly those jungle-ly dense, unfriendly mountain walls the effort that went into building that road is incredible! All around the road, the view is oustanding, starting from under the clouds, without being able to see the top of the mountains. A moment later it's the strange moment when you find yourself driving through that ominesent thick white cloud, a moment that leaves you with the infinite gap next to the road as the only view! Then the magical moment, free from those thick clouds the view opens itself on breathtaking mountain peaks ! All around you peaks are emerging from that cloud sea, what an unforgetable moment !
Unfortunately that road is only open for shuttle buses that brings - a lot of - tourists to the tianmen gate, the "gate to heaven" where 999 steps are waiting for you to climb to see that huge rock arch.
