In wake of the death of Justin WIlson. the FIA in conjunction with the F1 teams are testing the idea of a few options for improved driver safety. Personally i think this design is ugly and impairs the drivers vision. If they are going to go as far as closing in the driver like this, they may as well just create a closed cockpit system that surrounds the driver in bullet/shatter proof wind screen that is on a hinge to allow easy access to the driver.
