Jazz Five takes the audience to a party in present day New Orleans and delivers a unique show with boogie, blues, jive, shuffle and 2nd line funk. Jazz Five is a sweatdripping and swinging jazzmachine which takes the listener to a Mardi Gras Festival night in New Orleans and delivers a top class show..
Jazz Five was formed in 1996 and has gained a broad experience and played more than 900 shows from Copenhagen to British Columbia. Whether it is a festival, a club or a private party the band grooves a melting pot of extatic happiness to a party. With two saxophones in the front, energetic rhythm section, firy boogie piano and a singing drummer they deliver a dedicated and authentic show which is rare. In this atmosphere it is impossible to sit still and the audience is pulled out of their chairs and out on the dance floor by the passionate grooves.
Jazz Five is inspired by John Cleary, Dr. John, Louis Jordan, Chuck Berry, and Fats Domino. The band performs classics like "Jambalaya", "Pay me my money down", "Never can tell", their way, as well as their own compositions which mirror their influences in a new creation where Denmark meets New Orleans in 2011.
Jazz Five's newest release "New Orleans heat" from 2011 gives a great example of the style which is mentioned above and shows the more bluesy and funky side of the band. With the release comes a live DVD recorded in Copenhagen in 2010. Here you can see what Jazz Five is most known for; being one of the best live bands in Denmark.
