As a first time contestant to the Scion Tuner Challenge, Daniel Song felt that the FR-S was the perfect car to jump on. Almost immediately after accepting his participation in the Challenge, his mind went to work.
He felt strongly that the Scion FR-S was built and designed as a performance vehicle to be enjoyed by both professional and amateur driving enthusiasts. It was then that the no-nonsense, function built, raw, aggressive, and sinister race bred theme was born. The project was named the "FR-S GT" and was the first clue to its inner racecar spirit being unleashed. It was important to Daniel that not only the car be 'show ready' for it's debut at SEMA 2012, but that if the FR-S GT had to, it could put on a real show on the track where it would truly come alive.

Scion is a brand of vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market. Founded in 2002, Scion was introduced at the New York Auto Show to appeal to Generation Y consumers. The first Scion models, the xA hatchback and xB wagon, went on sale in California in 2003, followed by a sports coupe, the tC, and a nationwide U.S. launch in 2004.
A successor to the xA, the xD, premiered in 2008, and the Scion marque expanded to Canada in 2010. Scion currently has five models: the tC, xB, iQ, xD, and the FR-S. The Scion name, meaning the descendant of a family or heir, refers both to the brand's cars and their owners.
