A man who was believed to have explosives strapped to his body while holding a younger man hostage in Western Australian park for more than 12 hours has been arrested by police after shots were fired.
The siege ended about 7am (9am AEST) shortly after the hostage was set free. The hostage took off his shirt and walked to police before being taken away by an ambulance.
Police fired non-lethal bullets at the 52-year-old hostage taker and he appeared to fall to the ground of the park in Bunbury, south of Perth.
Police ordered the man to remove his shirt and pointed weapons with green lasers at the man as he walked towards authorities before he was handcuffed and taken into an armoured vehicle.
