Clashes have broken out in Frankfurt as activists from the anti-capitalist movement ‘Blockupy’ attempt to halt the opening ceremony of the new European Central Bank (ECB) building.
Protesters have set up barricades around the building and hundreds of riot police have been deployed to the scene. The riot police are armed with tear gas, water cannons and armoured personnel carriers.
