A truly bizarre scene unfolded at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. As you can see in the video at the top of the page, The Croatian boxer (Vido Loncar) socked the referee with a right hand, and then while the ref is downed and severely hurt, proceeded to use MMA-style ground-and-pound on the man until he's pulled by his ankles out of the ring. His opponent in the blue corner opted to flee the scene while the referee took his beating. After the Croatian boxer was removed, the referee was eventually helped up after the ring had been cleared.
There's no two ways about it - Loncar's act is truly sickening and it an outright assault. It should be treated as a criminal case and there's no reason for Loncar to be fighting again any time soon.
