This is another favorite track of mine off of David Bowie's third LP, The Man Who Sold The World. Technically a waltz, "After All" also has an eerie, circus or carnival-like atmosphere and is considered an early form of gothic rock. To quote Wikipedia: "The song has been interpreted as taking to nightmarish conclusions the children's world of Bowie's early song 'There Is a Happy Land', from his 1967 debut David Bowie." Despite all the effort on my part to replicate the mood, which is genuinely creepy, and something of the substance, of the piece visually, it is possible I did not go far enough in my interpretation (or maybe too far). I consider the song itself another work of genius by a young David Bowie, but I would warn that this is NOT a song you want playing repetitively non-stop in your head for days on end, especially if you are having a bad time of things in your own life.
